It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Ervin Laszlo on June 29.

The Fuji Declaration community joins people around the world in honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Ervin Laszlo—visionary philosopher, systems scientist, humanitarian, and co-founder of the Fuji Declaration.

Together, Dr. Ervin Laszlo and Mr. and Mrs. Saionji gave birth to the Fuji Declaration, a global call to awaken humanity’s highest potential. Launched in May 2015 during a grand inauguration ceremony at Fuji Sanctuary, at the foot of Japan’s sacred Mount Fuji, the Declaration marked the beginning of a global movement. Dr. Laszlo held Mount Fuji in deep reverence and believed that the name “Fuji Declaration” beautifully embodied the spirit of this initiative and its enduring call—Igniting the Divine Spark for a Thriving World.

Throughout his life, Dr. Laszlo inspired millions through his pioneering work in systems thinking, consciousness, and global ethics. His extraordinary ability to bridge science, philosophy, and spirituality offered a compelling vision of a more peaceful, harmonious, and sustainable future.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Dr. Laszlo recognized him not only as one of the great visionaries of our time, but also as a man of deep kindness, generosity, humility, and grace. His extraordinary wisdom was matched by the warmth of his spirit. His friendship, encouragement, and unwavering belief in humanity’s highest potential have enriched the journey of the Fuji Declaration from its very beginning and continue to inspire all who are dedicated to its mission.

As we mourn his passing, we express our deepest gratitude for his life, his leadership, and the immeasurable gifts he shared with the world. His legacy lives on through the Fuji Declaration and through all who continue to embody its vision.

Our heartfelt condolences are extended to his beloved family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.

One year before his passing, Dr. Laszlo shared these words in a video message on the occasion of the Fuji Declaration’s 10th Anniversary:
